Terms, privacy and refunds.
The policies that apply to Kontab and to this website. Questions? Email hello@soleytechnologies.com.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Kontab platform ("Service"), a software service owned and operated by Solèy Technologies Ltd. ("we", "us", or "our"), a company based in Saint Lucia.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
Kontab is a cloud-based accounting platform designed to assist businesses in:
- maintaining financial records
- managing invoices, expenses, payroll, and inventory
- generating reports and analytics
- managing users and business operations
The Service is a tool for managing financial information and does not constitute accounting, legal, or tax advice.
2. Accounts and Eligibility
You must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- provide accurate and complete information
- maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
You are responsible for all activity conducted under your account.
3. Subscription, Trials, and Access
New users may begin with a free 30-day trial of the Professional plan. The trial does not require a payment method, does not automatically convert to a paid subscription, and does not place charges on an account by itself. A paid subscription begins only when you complete paid checkout with our authorized payment provider and any required payment step succeeds under that provider's process. Where a paid subscription is active, applicable fees, billing period, and renewal terms are those confirmed at checkout and in account or portal communications. Pricing is subject to change with 30 days' notice for active paid subscribers.
3.1 Subscription Access
After you complete paid checkout and a paid subscription is active, access to certain features is determined by your subscription plan and system configuration.
3.2 Trial Access
During the trial period described above, feature availability is governed by system rules and these Terms. When the trial ends without a completed paid checkout, you do not have an active paid subscription unless and until you complete checkout; your access to features may change in line with the plan or access tier that applies at that time.
3.3 Renewal and Cancellation
Paid subscriptions renew for successive billing periods unless you cancel before the renewal date in accordance with the cancellation process made available to you (for example through your billing portal or as we describe in your account). Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, unless stated otherwise in our Refund Policy.
3.4 Non-Payment
If a renewal payment fails or your account is not in good standing for continued paid access, we may downgrade your plan, restrict access to certain features or the Service, or take other reasonable account actions until payment is resolved, in addition to any rights we have under these Terms or applicable law.
3.5 Seat Limits
User access may be subject to seat limits defined by your subscription. Invitations and user additions may be restricted accordingly.
3.6 Feature Enforcement
Feature availability is enforced through system controls and entitlement checks. While designed for consistency, enforcement may vary depending on system state and configuration.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- use the Service in compliance with applicable laws
- maintain accurate financial records
- ensure proper authorization for users you invite
- comply with all reporting and regulatory obligations
You are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy of your data
- any decisions made using the Service
5. Data Ownership and Use
5.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of all business and financial data you submit to the Service.
5.2 License to Process
You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to:
- provide and operate the Service
- maintain security and system integrity
- improve performance and functionality
6. Accounting Integrity and Records
The Service is designed to support proper accounting practices, including:
- maintaining transaction histories
- recording adjustments through controlled mechanisms
- preserving records for reporting and analysis
Not all system actions are immutable, and not all activities are comprehensively logged.
7. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- use the Service for unlawful or fraudulent purposes
- attempt unauthorized access
- interfere with system operations
- reverse engineer or exploit the platform
- use the Service to develop competing products
We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
8. System Access and Administrative Controls
Authorized personnel of Solèy Technologies Ltd. may access systems and data where necessary for:
- system operation and maintenance
- customer support
- security monitoring
- compliance with legal obligations
Administrative actions are controlled and may be logged for accountability.
9. Availability and Performance
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
System protections such as rate limiting and request controls may be applied as necessary.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers for infrastructure and functionality.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for failures of third-party services beyond our reasonable control. This does not limit our responsibility for our own service obligations under these Terms.
11. Payments, Merchant of Record, and Billing
Payments for subscription transactions may be processed by Paddle (or another authorized payment provider) as merchant of record or payment reseller for the transaction. In that capacity, the payment provider may operate checkout, collect applicable taxes based on the buyer's location in accordance with its practices, issue receipts or tax documentation, appear on card or bank statements, and handle buyer-facing payment, refund, and cancellation steps in line with that provider's buyer terms and policies.
Paddle's buyer terms apply to the payment transaction together with these Terms, which govern your use of the Kontab software service. Solèy Technologies Ltd. remains the provider and operator of the Service; the payment provider facilitates payment, billing administration, and related compliance for eligible purchases as described in its documentation.
11.1 Taxes and Displayed Prices
Applicable taxes may be calculated and collected by Paddle or another payment provider at checkout based on your location. Prices shown in-app may be exclusive of applicable taxes.
11.2 Payment Credentials
Payment card and related payment credentials are collected and processed by our payment provider. We do not hold your full card number on our own systems for checkout; what we receive is limited to what the provider shares for subscription and support purposes (for example tokens or transaction references as applicable).
11.3 Refunds
Our Refund Policy, available at kontab.net/refund-policy, forms part of these Terms and sets out how refund requests are handled alongside any payment-provider processes that apply to the transaction.
11.4 Plan Changes and Feature Access
If your subscription plan is downgraded, cancelled, expires, or otherwise changes to a lower tier, access to certain features may be restricted. Data and records created while a feature was available are retained and remain accessible in view-only mode where the feature is not included in your current plan. Continued creation or editing of records associated with restricted features requires an eligible plan.
Downgrading or cancelling your subscription does not automatically remove stored data and does not by itself entitle you to a refund apart from what is described in our Refund Policy or required under applicable law.
12. Data Export and Deletion
12.1 Data Export
Users may export certain data from the Service. Export functionality may be limited to specific formats or datasets.
12.2 Deletion Requests
Account and data deletion requests are processed through controlled workflows and may be subject to verification, processing time, and legal retention requirements.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if:
- these Terms are breached
- unlawful or abusive activity is detected
- payment obligations are not met
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."
We do not guarantee:
- accuracy of outputs
- suitability for regulatory compliance
- uninterrupted operation
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages
- total liability is limited to fees paid in the preceding 12 months
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Saint Lucia.
All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Saint Lucia.

This Privacy Policy explains how Solèy Technologies Ltd. collects, uses, and protects personal data in connection with the Kontab Service.
1. Categories of data we collect
Depending on how you use Kontab, we may process the following categories of information:
- Account and identity data — for example, name, email address, authentication credentials, role, and settings associated with your user account.
- Business and accounting records — data you upload, import, or create in the Service (for example, ledgers, invoices, contacts, attachments, and related operational records).
- Subscription and billing status — information about your plan, seat entitlements, and payment status as reported by our payment provider (not full payment card details stored by Kontab; see section 2).
- Support communications — messages you send us (for example, through in-app support or email), including content needed to respond to your request.
- Usage and log data — for example, IP address, device and browser information, authentication and session data, timestamps, and operational logs used to run and secure the Service.
- AI interaction data — where you use AI-powered features, content you submit for processing and related metadata needed to provide those features (see section 7).
2. Payment data
Kontab does not directly store full payment card details (such as complete card numbers, CVV, or full magnetic stripe equivalent data) on its own systems. Payment information is collected and processed by Paddle or another authorized payment provider, which receives payment details directly from you or your bank/card network as part of checkout.
Kontab receives confirmation of payment status, subscription identifiers, and related billing metadata from the payment provider as needed to operate accounts and entitlements. The payment provider's use of payment data is governed by its own terms and privacy notice.
3. Ownership of your business data
You retain ownership of your business records and content. Kontab processes that information only to provide and improve the Service, as described in this Policy, and does not acquire ownership of your underlying accounting or financial records.
4. How we use data
We use data to:
- operate and provide the Service
- deliver accounting functionality
- communicate with users
- maintain security and integrity
- comply with legal obligations
5. Data sharing
We do not sell personal or financial data.
We may share data with:
- service providers and subprocessors that help us run the Service (see section 6)
- authorities where legally required
6. Subprocessors and categories of providers
We use trusted third parties to host, secure, and deliver the Service. They process data only as instructed and as needed for their role. Examples of categories and named providers (which may change over time) include:
- Cloud hosting and database — for example, Supabase and Vercel for application hosting, storage, and related infrastructure.
- Authentication — for example, Supabase Auth for sign-in and session management.
- Email delivery — for example, Resend and/or Postmark for transactional and operational email.
- Payment processing — for example, Paddle when acting as merchant of record or payment provider, or another authorized processor we may use from time to time.
- AI features — where enabled, Anthropic (for example, the Claude API) may process customer content submitted to AI features to generate responses or outputs (see section 7).
Data is shared only as necessary to provide the Service.
7. AI processing
Certain features may process user-submitted content using AI systems (including cloud APIs such as Anthropic's Claude) to provide functionality you request—for example, in-app assistance or document-oriented workflows where those features are available and enabled for your account.
Data is used to deliver the requested features in accordance with this Policy.
Outputs are generated automatically and should not be relied upon as professional, tax, or legal advice.
8. Aggregated and de-identified data
We may generate aggregated, de-identified statistical information for analytical purposes.
Such data:
- does not identify individuals or businesses
- does not include raw financial records
- is processed to prevent re-identification
9. Data security
We implement safeguards including:
- encryption in transit
- access controls
- system monitoring and logging
No system is completely secure.
10. Data retention and deletion
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business and legal purposes.
Cancelling a subscription does not automatically delete your business accounting data. Access to paid features may end in line with your plan, but records may remain in the Service until you take further action or submit a request consistent with our processes.
You may request deletion or export of your data where applicable. Deletion requests are handled through Support and controlled workflows (for example via the contact details at the end of this Policy). We may retain certain information where required for legal, regulatory, tax, or accounting retention obligations, or where necessary to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements—even after a deletion request—only to the extent permitted by law.
Deletion may not result in immediate removal of all copies (for example, backups or logs), and some data may persist for a limited period consistent with our security and operations practices.
11. Your rights
You may:
- request access to your data
- request correction
- request deletion (subject to retention requirements)
- request export of available data
12. International transfers
Kontab is operated from Saint Lucia, but the Service relies on providers that may process and store data in countries other than Saint Lucia. By using Kontab, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations by authorized subprocessors. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards designed to protect personal data in line with this Policy and applicable law.
13. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- authentication
- session management
- core functionality
- security and abuse prevention
14. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18.
15. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide advance notice through the Service and/or by email (using the address associated with your account) before the effective date, where practicable. Your continued use of Kontab after the effective date of the updated Policy constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service before the effective date.

This Refund Policy governs subscription payments for Kontab ("the Service"), operated by Solèy Technologies Ltd., a company incorporated in Saint Lucia with its principal place of business at Cas En Bas, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.
By subscribing to the Service, users agree to the terms set out below.
1. Nature of the Service
Kontab is a subscription-based software service provided on a recurring billing basis. Access to the Service is granted for the duration of the applicable monthly billing period, subject to payment of the relevant subscription fees.
2. Free trial
Where offered, Kontab provides a free trial period of 30 days from the date of account creation to allow users to evaluate the Service prior to purchasing a paid plan.
No payment method is required to start the trial, and no subscription charges are applied during the trial solely because you created an account.
The free trial does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. To access a paid plan after your trial, you must select a plan and complete checkout. If you do not upgrade, your account moves to Free Forever at trial end.
Paid charges apply only after you explicitly choose a paid plan and complete the applicable checkout or confirmation step presented at that time.
3. Refund Window
Nothing in this Policy limits mandatory statutory rights that apply to you. Where those rights apply, they prevail.
Customers may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial purchase or renewal.
4. How to Request a Refund
Email support@kontab.net with your account email and the date of the charge. Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Paddle.
5. Refunds After the 14-Day Window
After the 14-day refund window, subscription payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or Paddle's Buyer Terms. Billing errors and duplicate charges will be corrected in accordance with Paddle's Buyer Terms and applicable law.
6. Cancellation
Cancelling a subscription stops future billing. Cancellation does not automatically result in a pro-rated refund for the remaining part of the billing period.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period unless your payment provider's process or applicable law provides otherwise. Paid access continues until the end of that period.
You remain responsible for charges already incurred for the current period unless a refund is required by applicable law or issued under this Policy or Paddle's Buyer Terms.
7. Cancelling your subscription (access and data)
Subscriptions are cancelled through the flows available in your account or billing portal (including any provider-managed portal where applicable).
Upon cancellation of a paid subscription:
- Paid access to the Service continues until the end of the current billing period
- No further renewal charges apply after cancellation takes effect under the provider's rules
- A pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the current billing period is not issued after the 14-day window unless required by law
- Your business data may remain accessible in read-only mode for a limited period following the end of the billing period, after which it may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Records may be retained longer where the law requires (for example, tax or accounting retention).
8. Chargebacks and payment disputes
Contact support@kontab.net before disputing a charge with your bank. Billing concerns are resolved as quickly as possible. Where a dispute involves suspected fraud or abuse, access may be reviewed in accordance with Paddle's Buyer Terms and applicable law.
9. Changes to this Policy
Solèy Technologies Ltd. reserves the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated to subscribers via email at least 14 days before taking effect. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers before taking effect, where required by law.
10. Compliance with applicable law
Nothing in this Policy limits any rights that may be available to consumers under applicable laws of Saint Lucia, including rights relating to unfair practices, misrepresentation, or failure of the Service to perform as reasonably expected.
11. Governing law
This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of Saint Lucia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles that would apply another jurisdiction's laws, except where mandatory consumer protections in your location cannot be waived.
12. Contact information
